General

Ms. Harmeling focuses her practice on premises liability, construction litigation, and personal injury defense.   She has represented individuals and business clients in all phases of litigation, including arbitration, mediation, and trial.

Employment

Ms. Harmeling joined the firm of Castagna Scott LLP in 2017. Prior to joining Castagna Scott LLP, Ms. Harmeling practiced civil litigation in California. From 2011 to 2017, she worked for the firm of Procter & Shyer LLP located in Oxnard, California focusing her practice on personal injury defense in the representation of public entities, businesses and individuals. From 2000 to 2011, Ms. Harmeling worked for Procter, Slaughter & Reagan in Ventura, California concentrating in the in construction litigation, HOA litigation, and personal injury defense. From 1991 to 2000, Ms. Harmeling worked for Henderson, Wohlgemuth & Bohl in Ventura, California specializing in construction defect litigation and automobile litigation.  Earlier in her career, Ms. Harmeling worked at Dummit, Faber & Brown, in Los Angeles, California, concentrating in medical malpractice defense.

Education

Ms. Harmeling received her J.D. from the University of the Pacific (McGeorge School of Law) in Sacramento, California in 1987 and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego in 1984. While attending the University of the Pacific, she obtained the American Jurisprudence Award in Business Planning.

Bar admissions and activities

Ms. Harmeling was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2017 and the State Bar of California in 1987. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in the Central and Eastern Districts of California.  She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of California, and the Austin Bar Association.

Ms. Harmeling was born in Oakland, California. She lives with her husband in Austin.
