General
Ms. Wood has represented the State of Texas prosecuting cases involving capital murder, murder, aggravated assault, aggravated sexual assault of a child, injury to a child, sexual assault, family violence, driving while intoxicated, theft, securities fraud, and white collar, environmental and corporate crimes. She has also represented Child Protective Services in civil termination of parental rights cases. Ms. Wood handled cases in the Court of Appeals for the Third District of Texas and the Texas Supreme Court, involving both written and oral arguments. Ms. Wood has tried more than fifty trials to a jury and even more trials to the bench in both civil and criminal cases.
While in private practice, Ms. Wood defended individuals and businesses throughout the State of Texas in personal injury cases, focusing on the areas of premises liability, construction litigation, products liability, worker’s compensation, OSHA violations, and medical, legal, engineering and accounting malpractice.

Employment
Ms. Wood joined the law firm of Castagna Scott LLP in January 2012. Previously she served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Travis County District Attorney’s Office from February 2000 until November 2011. Prior to that she was an associate with the defense law firm Wilson, Grosenheider, Moore & Jacobs, LLP from September 1996 until February 2000. In the first year of her career, Ms. Wood served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jane Boyle, United States Magistrate for the United States Court, Northern District of Texas.

Education
Ms. Wood received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1995. While attending law school she was the Senior Manuscript Editor and member of the American Journal of Criminal Law. In her last semester of law school, Ms. Wood interned for the Honorable Bea Ann Smith with the Court of Appeals for the Third District of Texas.
Ms. Wood obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics, graduating with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Bar admissions and activities
Ms. Wood was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November 1995. She is admitted to practice before the United States Courts, Northern and Western Districts of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Ms. Wood currently serves as Chairperson of the Travis County Hate Crimes Task Force.

Ms. Wood is a native and life-long resident of Austin, Texas. She enjoys spending time on her bicycle, in her garden, and with her two dogs.
