General

Ms. Rasmus has represented individuals and businesses throughout the State of Texas, including Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Waco and East Texas. Her primary areas of practice are personal injury defense, premises liability, products liability, HOA litigation, general liability, probate litigation and employment law.

Ms. Rasmus has argued cases on appeal in the Third Court of Appeals of Texas in Austin, the Fourth Court of Appeals of Texas in San Antonio, and the Supreme Court of Texas. She has also argued cases before the United States Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans, Louisiana and the Tenth Court of Appeals in Denver, Colorado.

She has served as first chair on numerous cases in Travis County, Bastrop County, Hays County, Burnet County, Bell County, Bexar County, Harris County, El Paso County, Atascosa County, Hildalgo County, and Freestone County.

Employment

Ms. Rasmus joined the law firm of Castagna Scott LLP in July 2017. She founded the Rasmus Firm in January 1998 to present. Ms. Rasmus started her legal career in 1986 at Bankston, Wright & Greenhill in Austin, Texas. She became partner and was with Wright & Greenhill until December 31, 1997.   She is recognized as a pre-eminent lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell and rated AV.

Education

Ms. Rasmus received her J.D. from Texas Tech School of Law in 1986. She competed in moot court competitions at the state and national level and was a member of the Board of Barristers. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1982.

Bar admissions and activities

Ms. Rasmus was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in June 1986. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Western District.

Personal

Ms. Rasmus grew up the daughter of a United States Army member. She lived in various places, including Germany.  Her family settled in El Paso, Texas where she graduated from Andress High School in 1971. She and her husband are very active in their church and enjoy making wine together.
